In one of the most sensational rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl from Kotkhai,the India’s premier investigating agency the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) on Wednesday was granted two weeks more time by the Himachal Pradesh High Court to submit its status report in the case. Meanwhile the CBI has submitted its preliminary report in a sealed envelope. The court has also directed the Registrar General to keep the sealed envelop in the safe custody. Following the heavy public protest the case has become very significant for the state government and strong point for the BJP to levelled serious allegation against the state government alleging negligent on its part to handle the situation.
A team of the Special investigative team of the CBI, headed by the SP, was present in the high court during the hearing. The CBI advocate while presenting the case before the the Division Bench, comprising of acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma, pleaded that the CBI needs three-month time to complete the investigation in the case. However after hearing the CBI’s plea the Division Bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma, declined the plea of the CBI and directed it to submit its status report within two weeks and listed the matter for further hearing on August 17.
The high court had taken the suo motto of the case on July 12 after the case was highlighted the media. Thereafter taking note on the state government plea the case has been transferred to the CBI. In addition to the court has also entrusted the case of murder of the accused by another accused in the custody in the gang rape and murder case.
