National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world, is celebrating its 69th Raising Day today. On this solemn occasion, Defence Secretary Shri Sanjay Mitra and Officiating DG, NCC Maj Gen B K Guha laid wreaths on behalf of the entire NCC fraternity by paying homage to the martyrs who made their supreme sacrifices for the country, at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate here yesterday.
The NCC raising day was also celebrated all over India with cadets participating in marches, cultural activities and social development programmes.
The NCC is at the forefront of contribution towards social causes and community development activities. Its cadets have done the nation and the organisation proud by their remarkable achievements in the fields of sports and adventures. They have also won laurels in the National Shooting and Equestrian competitions and other events.
During the current year, the NCC was awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for its contribution towards Swacchta Abhiyan. It has played a pivotal role in spreading awareness during the digitisation campaign and International Yoga Day.
