Rahul Gandhi’s convoy was attacked by BJP workers in Gujarat’s Banaskantha, alleged by the Congress here today. Rahul is safe however the security accompanying him was injured during the attack.
The incident took place when Rahul Gandhi was surveying flood-hit areas along with the party leaders when his convoy was attacked with cement bricks by the BJP workers. Banaskantha, one of the areas in Gujarat worst-affected by the flood.
Terming this incident as dastardly attack, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that “Do they(BJP) think they can silence the opposition, they can cow down anybody with violence. The attack was serious as the car was damaged, a window was shattered and also an SPG (Special Protection Group) personnel was hurt, he further added. While Senior BJP leader Kailash Vijaywargiya added that “We don’t know if the attack was real or orchestrated.” In addition to it, the Press Trust of India quoted a police officer as saying that the man who threw stones at the convoy has been detained and is being questioned.
