The issue pertains to procurement of various products by the Centre. The MPs have alleged that purchases were made through the government's e-marketplace (GeM) official portal at rates higher than the "rate contract". The products include electronic energy meters, e-digital postal franking machines, laptops and refrigerators among others.
For example the model H8CDK, a small office paper shredder, which was purchased by the office of the regional director, showed a price of Rs 7,638 on while it was available on the Snapdeal portal at Rs 5,695.
a toner cartridge, HP8A model CE278A, purchased by the ministry of statistics s at Rs 3,142 but on Snapdeal this was for Rs 2,199.
All the documents were released by Surjewala,A sony 32-inch LED Bravia KLV TV model 32R302D listed on the GeM for Rs 30,500 but this was available on Amazon for Rs 23,000.
