One of the most trusted man of the Chief Minister Punjab, Capt Amarinder Singh, his Chief Principal Secretary, Suresh Kumar, has offered a resignation just a day after the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued a notice to the Central and state government over his appointment. The development is significant as Suresh Kumar is one of key persons who is taking care of the CM’s administrative functioning in the state. Even during the previous Congress regime in the state during 2002-2007, he was the blue eyed boy of the CM. The Chief Minister has directed the Advocate General’s office to strongly defend Suresh Kumar case. According to the official sources Kumar did not attended the office yesterday and also not participated in any official activity. Kumar had reported written a letter to the Chief Minister expressing his desire not to continue with his post till the pendency of the case.
The case against Kumar was filed by advocate Ramandeep Singh and will come for hearing on August 30. It was pleaded in the petition that there was no provision in the rules to appoint retired officer as Cabinet Secretary.
