TC CHANDIGARH: The British School Chandigarh hosted, LA Rejouissance Des Sports Annual Sports Day. A day filled with fervour and excitement experienced amidst thrills, shrills and cheers. The chief guest for the day was an International Shooter, Ms Gauri Sheoran,Guest of honour Shri Jagdeep Singh (IAS Haryana Government). The school’s chairperson Shrimati Urmila Sethi ji, Director Mr Ranjan Sethi, Principal Ms. Mona Sethi ,Vice Principal Ms Rosy Chaudhary, Administrator Ms Lata Bhardwaj also graced the occasion. The day started off with the lovely rendition by the troupe of dancers to pay salutations to sat Sai Baba
The event began with the Inter-House March past performed by the students of Class III to XII.
Another highlight of the day was the Torch Relay:lighting of the Torch which was carried by Ashwin Krishnan ,our International Squash champion, Prateek of Rugby of State Team, and Aryan the school Boxing champion. It was followed by a flag hoisting ceremony. An oath was administered to students to participate in the sports day with true sportsman spirit. The sports meet was declared open formally by Principal Ms Mona Sethi; welcoming the esteemed gathering and emphasised on the importance of sports in a child’s life.
School Annual report of 2019 was presented by Rosy Ma’am. Students of classes 6 to 12 competed in events including relays, Long Jump race, shotput. Notable among competitions for classes Tinkerbells to class 5 were various kinds of races including bucket race, and relay race, aerobics, display of sports equipment and Yoga. The spectators were particularly enthused by the Rhythmic Yoga, Zumba, Shuffle Dance and closing dance performance a fusion of Bhangra and hiphop. Mauryan and Rushil presented a mesmerizing musical rap.The audience appreciated the performances and praised the efforts profusely.
Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes.Followed by the medal ceremony at the conclusion of each event. The event concluded with a fun race held for parents and grandparents. It regaled the students, spectators and participants alike as they discovered the hidden child in themselves. All impressive perfomances kept the audience enthralled. At the end of the day, students departed with a clear smile on their faces . It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.
In his concluding speech, the Chief Guest praised the endeavours of the school. She highlighted the necessity of sportsmanship in a world riddled with rat races for glory. Ms LataBhardwaj in her vote of thanks also thanked parents for their support and encouragement that lent charm to the event.
