AAI to organise NTPC prize money National Ranking Archery Tournament from April 17

Archery Association of India (AAI) is going to organise NTPC prize money National Ranking Archery Tournament (Male & Female) from April 17 to 18 at Circus Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh. Maha Singh, secretary general, AAI along with Amarinder Bazaz, president Chandigarh, Archery Association briefed about the preparations and event in details. Maha Singh explained that 24 archers in each Recurve and Compound category both in men and women section totaling 96 players have already been selected in two phases. First phase of shortlisting of players have been done in selection trial held at Rohtak in January 2019 and second phase of shortlisting of players have been done during senior National Archery Championship held at Bhubneshwar from March 10-15, 2019.

Now in Chandigarh, top 96 players (24 men and 24 women), already shortlisted as above are coming for final ranking tournament.

India‚Äôs top renowned archer namely Deepika Kumari, Laishram, Bombayala Devi, Ankita Bhakat, Promila Daimary, Madhu Vedwan, Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das, Mangal Singh Champia, Atul Verma in compound category. Abhishek Verma, Rajat Chaudhan, Rajat Saini, Chhinnaraju Srither, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Muskan Kirar, Lilly Chanu, Poonam, Madhumita Kumari, Trisha Deb, Swati Dudhwal in Compound Category are coming. The opening ceremony shall be held on April 17, 2019 ta 10 am. The closing ceremony shall be held on April 18 ta 5 pm. The association will also distribute cash prizes worth Rs 12 lakh to the top eight position holders in the tournament. Maha Singh profusely thanked the NTPC Limited for coming forward to support this ancient game of India. NTPC is not only funding for holding domestic events but also providing apparels to Indian teams going abroad. Three day judging seminar from April 15-17 will be held for judges coming from entire India. World Archery association deputed its technical experts who already reached from Gairo Egypt for this seminar, the secretary general informed.
