Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt

With elections coming soon to Mumbai, you would expect all actors to take a break from their work and exercise their right to vote, however there are a few of your favourite Bollywood celebrities who will not be voting. Even though they live, work and play here in India, they are not Indian citizens.

While we know actress Katrina Kaif and Jacqueline Fernandez are not Indian citizens since they have moved to India over the years after finding fame in the Indian Film Industry, there are some who we didn’t know weren’t Indian citizens.

Deepika Padukone, one of the A-lister and highly paid Bollywood actress known to have spent her childhood in Bangalore was actually born in Copenhagen, Demark, and since holds a Danish citizenship.

Alia Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter and one of the bankable actors holds a British passport because her mother, Soni Razan is also of a British origin. The actress can only vote in India if she chooses to given up the British citizenship.

Imran Khan, who was born in the US moved to India with his mother after she got divorced and still does not hold an Indian Passport.

Akshay Kumar, who is known to work towards national interest is not an Indian citizen. The actor holds Canadian citizenship, however, it is said to be a honorary degree that is symbolic and does not give him the any of the rights, privileges, or duties typically held by a Canadian citizen.
