Interpreting Gita in a new light,
with logic and science

‘THE LOGIC OF SRIMAD BHAGWAD GITA’ by Pramendra Srivastava

Gita has been interpreted in many
ways by hundreds and thousands of rishis and saints. Even today, scholars find
something new in every page they turn. Gita is not just a holy book or a
religious scripture but the words of God himself that make it a true bible of
knowledge, vision, direction and way of living, and perhaps much much more.

Though a lot has been said and
written about Srimand Bhagwad Gita but it has never been the last word – and it
will perhaps never be. But scholars continue to explore new depths in SBG and
discover its application in every time and place.

An Indian Institute of Technology
Alumni IIT-Kanpur, Pramendra Srivastava talks about the Gita with science and
logic, challenging some of the conventional understanding in his new book, ‘THE
LOGIC OF SRIMAD BHAGWAD GITA’.

“Sanatan Dharma was the first attempt
to move the man from the wilds to the civilized world and gave birth to the
world’s religions as we see the core similarities in them, though shaded by
local culture and traditions,” he says as he settles down to talk about SBG and
how Sanatan Dharma is the mother of all world religions.

Christianity and Islam, two major
world religions, have their root in Sanatan Dharma and Srimad Bhagwad Gita
captures the essence of life.

Did you ever compare the essence of
Yoga and the concept of Trinity in Christianity? Did you know why Prophet
Mohammad was meditating in the Hera Caves, and how knowledge was revealed to
Him? Do you see similarities in Indian Gods and myths to those in Greek? Do you
know that Big bang theory of creations has a mention in scriptures, from the
smallest atom to infinitely expanding universe? Pramendra has many questions
and perhaps answers too in THE LOGIC OF SRIMAD BHAGWAD GITA.

So factually, according to
Pramendra, Christianity is a subset of Sanatan Dharma, given its core
principles, though with contemporary localization of narrations, myths and
heroes. “The Concept of Trinity in Christianity states that The God, the father
and the Holy spirit are the same and represent each other. This is quite akin
to concept of Brahman, and the individual soul, and the Para-Brahmm,” he
explains.

“Islam too has numerous similarities
with Sanatan Dharma, says Pramendra, who finds that Prophet of Mecca, a
Spiritual being who demonstrated a very high level of consciousness but His
actions in Madina are mysterious and a challenge to psychologists,” he
adds.

“The soul of Prophet of Madina is
not the same as of Prophet of Mecca. Pre-52 Prophet Mohammad can be described
in Bhagwad Gita Terminology as “Moha-Aham-Mukt”, and sometimes his behavior
matches more with the virtues in Sanatan Dharma than the mentions in Uthmanic
Quran, he writes in the book published by Notion Press.

“It is well known fact that Prophet
(PBUH) of Mecca used to go to Hera Caves to seek isolation, and obviously
people seek isolation to concentrate, not to sleep, for which he had much
better facilities at home. He was married to richest women in Mecca for 27
years as monogamist.

“Prophet choked for breath, as
Gabriel held him before the revelation. First of all, we all know that such
angels do not come to life and hold people physically, and it remains a
mystery.

“Secondly try and see on what condition
one would have felt choked. Conditional analysis points to the fact that he
might have met a Sanyasi or Guru, whom was later pronounced as Gabriel, and he
taught him Kumbhak, Purak, Rechak Kriya, which is slow breathing, holding and
slow exhaling. Through this Ashtang-Yog technique he might have achieved the
yogic states and realized Knowledge. His sermons in Mecca are very close to
mentions in Bhagwad Gita,” Pramendra adds in an exclusive interview to Capt M K
Tayal of The Correspondent.

And Pramendra breaks many
stereotypes in his book. For instance, he says the real name of Lord Krishna is
not Krishna, the black but Kritsna, the ‘holistic Brahmm’. Kritsna became
Krishna over thousands of years of malapropism and semantic corruption,
Pramendra explains.

The writer, who is working in the
oil industry, feels that this book’s biggest revelation is that caste system is
faulty and it was Qualitative personalities and action based, rather than
Linage based. In addition, he feels that the Kayastha (the conscience keepers
of the society, not by linage) are the fifth pillar of the four-pronged caste
system as they were born of Brahma’s soul (figuratively) while other four are
from Bodies and are far more honest and truthful than Brahmans.

Unfortunately, the beautiful
psychology of humans got converted to today’s castes. Such laws are truly
eternal and apply to entire humanity, not just Hindus, irrespective of the
fact, whether anyone believes on it or not. Gravity was still present when
people did not know about it, and Earth revolved around Sun always, even before
heliocentric era.

“Sanatan Dharma was the first
beginning of today’s sciences. Its spirituality applies to all irrespective of
which religion people are born,” Pramendra says in the exclusive interview.

The Correspondent carries the
interview in a series.
