<p>Few things taste better with age like cheese and wine. Whisky
or whiskey is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash.
After wine when one thinks of another luxury alcohol then its only whiskey.
Various grains (which may be malted) are used for different varieties,
including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden
casks, generally made of charred white oak. It produces heat in bodies so it is
consumed mostly in winters. The more aged a whiskey is, the more depth and flavor
comes in it. So here are top old whiskies which will make you fall in love with
them:</p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;Dalmore 64 Trinitas</strong></p>

<p><strong>Year:</strong> 1946</p>

<p><strong>Age: </strong>72 years
old </p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;Type of whisky: </strong>Single Malt
Whisky</p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;Bottled By: </strong>Gordon &amp; MacPhail</p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;Location: </strong>Speyside, Scotland, UK</p>

<p>Only truly outstanding single malts can mature to a great age
such as 50 years old and more. To date only a handful of whiskies have been
released at the venerable 64 years of age.</p>

<p>Full sized bottles were sold for €10,000 each and small size
was sold for €2,500. The whisky was released by Gordon and MacPhail. The 70
year old batch was filled into a former sherry cask made from Spanish oak under
the order of John Urquhart, grandfather to the company’s current joint managing
directors, David and Michael Urquhart. The first bottle was piped in Edinburgh
Castle and tasted by guests in the Queen Anne Room.</p>

<p>As Ryes come this one is a true rarity, with a story as
engaging as the charm of any Scotsman. It was believed to have been purchased by John Welsh, US
Ambassador to the UK in the late 1870s.</p>

<p>Lost none of its depth, but time has certainly rounded all
the edges. It’s still very spicy but gently so, neither hot nor harsh.</p>

<p><strong>Old Vatted
Glenlivet</strong></p>

<p>&nbsp;<strong>Year:</strong> 1862</p>

<p>&nbsp;<strong>Age:</strong> 155 years old</p>

<p>&nbsp;<strong>Type of whisky: </strong>Single Malt Whisky</p>

<p>&nbsp;<strong>Bottled By:</strong> Glenlivet Distillery</p>

<p>&nbsp;<strong>Location:</strong> Scotland, UK</p>

<p>It is bottled by the Glenlivet Distillery in Scotland, UK,
which is one of the oldest legal distilleries founded in 1824 by George Smith.
In
2013, a bottle of 1862 Old Vatted Glenlivet was auctioned in a Bonhams auction
house in New York and sold for US$7,735.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="400" height="533" data-attachment-id="203778" data-permalink="https://thecorrespondent.in/uncategorized/most-aged-whiskies/attachment/vatted_ush2/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/vatted_ush2.jpg?fit=900%2C1200&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="900,1200" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="vatted_ush2" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/vatted_ush2.jpg?fit=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/vatted_ush2.jpg?fit=400%2C533&amp;ssl=1" src="https://i0.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/vatted_ush2-768x1024.jpg?resize=400%2C533&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-203778" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/vatted_ush2.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/vatted_ush2.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https://i0.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/vatted_ush2.jpg?resize=696%2C928&amp;ssl=1 696w, https://i0.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/vatted_ush2.jpg?resize=315%2C420&amp;ssl=1 315w, https://i0.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/vatted_ush2.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" data-recalc-dims="1" /></figure>

<p>Another bottle of the same whisky was found and instead of
being auctioned or sold, it was ceremoniously poured into a line of luxury
watches. Aptly called the Whisky Watch, the timepieces are a collaboration
between Wealth Solutions and Swiss watchmaker Louis Moinet that were made
available on April 8, 2017. They retailed for €14,625 ($17,866) for the
steel-case model and €37,375 ($45,655) for one of the ten limited red-gold
watches.</p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;Glenavon Special Liqueur Whisky</strong></p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;Year:</strong> 1851-1858</p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;Age:</strong> around 160 years old (166-159)</p>

<p>&nbsp;<strong>Type of whisky:</strong> Liqueur (non-cream) Whisky</p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;Bottled By:</strong> Glenavon Distillery</p>

<p><strong>&nbsp;Location:</strong> Scotland, UK</p>

<p>This 14-ounce bottle holds the Guinness World Record for
being the oldest bottle of whisky in existence. The Glenavon distillery ceased
operation sometime in the 1850s. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="203814" data-permalink="https://thecorrespondent.in/uncategorized/most-aged-whiskies/attachment/glavone-2/" data-orig-file="https://i1.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Glavone-1.jpg?fit=275%2C183&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="275,183" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}" data-image-title="Glavone" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://i1.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Glavone-1.jpg?fit=275%2C183&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i1.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Glavone-1.jpg?fit=275%2C183&amp;ssl=1" src="https://i1.wp.com/thecorrespondent.in/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Glavone-1.jpg?resize=400%2C266&#038;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-203814" width="400" height="266" data-recalc-dims="1" /></figure>

<p>The bottle, which has been owned by an Irish family for generations, eventually went to an anonymous bidder. The green bottle is unusually small in size and holds about 14fl oz  (about 400ml) of pale gold liquid.</p>
