City’s first Eye Film Festival (CME) was held at Hotel Mountview, Sector 10 here on Nov. 24, 2019 to impart Continuing Medical Education (CME) to over 120 eye specialists drawn from all over the country. The CME organized by Chandigarh Cornea Centre (CCC) attracted eminent as well as young ophthalmologists from the public sector, corporate sector as well as standalone eye clinics.
Prof Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER Chandigarh was the chief guest who lauded the work done by Dr Ashok Sharma in the field of corneal grafting and rendering eye care to the community, while inaugurating the event Dr. Jagat Ram also presented a unique video film demonstrating cataract surgery in children with congenital eye malformation.
Earlier, Dr R Kumar senior eye specialist and President SPEAK India, welcomed the chief guest, guests of honour Dr Sudhank Bharti from Delhi and Dr Prateep Vyas from Indore, other guests and delegates on the behalf of Chandigarh Cornea Centre (CCC). While welcoming the guests he exhorted the doctors to make medical services ethical and affordable for the community.
Dr Bharti presented how to perform safe cataract surgery in complicated cases. Dr Vyas, a well-known glaucoma specialist demonstrated how to fix the problems after glaucoma surgery. Dr Ashok Sharma, Director, Chandigarh Cornea Centre (CCC) demonstrated the management of Descemet’s membrane detachment, a complication of cataract surgery.
Other prominent ophthalmologists from the region, who participated in CME included Dr M R Dogra, Dr Arun Jain, Dr B S Bhaura, Dr S S Pandav, Dr Suresh Gupta, Dr GS Dhami, Dr Rohit Om Prakash, Dr. Gursatinder Singh and many others. The participants took part in active discussion and question-answer session. One session was dedicated to video film competition for young ophthalmologists, where cash prize was awarded to the winner. Dr Simar Rajan won the said competition. Dr Ashok Sharma, Director Chandigarh Cornea Centre (CCC) thanked all the guest speakers and delegates for their active participation and announced said that the eye film festival will be an annual affair.
