TC Bureau: In Punjab, major opposition party AAP and traditional party Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) are frantically issuing media statements, just to attract limelight. Their statements show their heightened frustrations, as they are deprived of real issues concerning the life of common man, they have no respect for public sentiments, and it shows they have dis-connect with public feelings. From 2007-17, SAD (Badal) hijacked Punjab Government agenda. Individuals who lost their assembly elections were made Halka incharges and they distributed government money, without holding any Official portfolio.
In last decade, they marketed every Punjab government scheme as SAD ingenuity. Affixing SAD Chief’s picture was their only agenda, be it the Sangat Darshan or distributing bicycles to students. Another interesting fact, AAP Punjab always try to take credit for its’ Delhi unit. In these distressing times of COVID-19, Congress President Smt Sonia Gandhi’s call to Pradesh Congress Committees to rise up and help the migrant laborers’ is a real yeomen’s service. Accordingly, Sh. Sunil Jakhar, President PPCC has assigned duties to all elected representatives. And today, Punjab CM has constituted District wise committees involving MPs, MLAs and Cabinet Ministers to look into the welfare of migrant laborers in lockdown period. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring is sitting MLA, and member of Bathinda District Committee.
In spite of tall claims by Centre Government regarding bearing 85% of Railway fare, not a single penny has been released to Punjab state on this date; and in this chaotic situation if Congress party government is trying to do welfare with the lower strata of society, AAP & SAD is trying to create hurdles. In their mental bankruptcy, AAP & SAD have forgotten that Raja Warring is performing his assigned duty to help migrant labourers’ safe and timely return journey. Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government was the first to implement lockdown and curfew, much ahead of Centre Government even. Though, BJP led centre government has provided mere Rs 500-00 per bank account, Punjab Government has provided much higher amount Rs 3000-00 per person to economically weaker section. Congress party doesn’t believe in issuing political and electoral Jumlas as BJP did with its tall claims of Rs 15 lakh to each person. This indicates the sensitivity of Punjab Government towards the situation.
Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh has ordered all District Officials to walk an extra mile to ensure timely supply of daily necessaries to each deserving person. COVID lockdown period and various issues connected with it, have been treated on priority; and Punjab Government would take every step to deal with the situation efficiently. Problem of this magnitude needs united efforts, and opposition parties’ claims are unfortunate. Punjab Pradesh Congress Committees and its District units are wholeheartedly making efforts to ensure sfae return of migrant labourers. Further, in last 50 days’ lock-down period people across the state has experienced and witnessed the role played by District Administration, Police administration in ensuring their welfare. People of Punjab has wholeheartedly supported Government stance, and opposition parties are finding this difficult to digest.
