We have been hearing this piece of news for quite some time now. WhatsApp is working on a new feature called “Dark Mode” or also mentioned in some places as the “Night Mode”. Basically, the new mode will darken the app interface instead of the white and UFO green colour scheme we have been looking at since the introduction of this app.

In a tweet by WAABetaInfo, there are a number of WhatsApp users who have been finding the Dark Mode in some sections of the app. However, WABetaInfo has stated that the beta version has a lot of bugs because of which the Night Mode is appearing randomly to beta testers. However, it is clear that WhatsApp is yet to bring the Dark Mode to the stable release as well.W

WhatsApp has a lot of bugs and it shows the Night Mode in many parts of the app.

We first heard about the appearance of a Dark Mode on the Facebook-owned social messaging app back in March 2018. Facebook Messenger already has the Dark Mode, and the company is working to bring the feature to the public version as well.

Now, in the next stable release of the update, WhatsApp is bringing the dark mode or also name as Night Mode. So people can now change their instant messaging platform look into black. The Night Mode will be more relaxing and hurt the eyes less in low light conditions. Furthermore, AMOLED smartphone users will be the happiest, we guess.

The Dark mode has been spotted multiple times in the WhatsApp beta update release, has been made compatible with calls and Status section. It has been enabled for Chats list too. The action buttons will also reportedly soon get the Night mode.

WhatsApp submitted their latest update bearing 2.19.139 version through the Google Play Beta Programme. The update hosted 155 redesigned emojis and Night mode. Once the testing is over, the layout will reportedly be made available to the end users in the next Google Play Stable and web update release.

The old emojis have gone through few cosmetic changes while the dark mode has been renamed to the Night mode in the recent update. Though the Night mode is still under development, the emojis are now available to use in the beta update.

How to download WhatsApp Beta

In order to be at the forefront of the possible updates that WhatsApp is planning to bring in, you can apply to be a tester in WhatsApp Beta Google Play program. Just log in to Google, and go to play.google.com/apps/testing.

Once on it, select WhatsApp and a new page will open. The information on the page will say, “You’ll receive an update to the WhatsApp Messenger app if you already have it installed on your device. If you don’t have the WhatsApp Messenger app installed, download it on Google Play.”

Once you receive the update notification, just download and install and you will be on the latest beta version of WhatsApp. You can leave the testing program at any time. You can switch to the public version of the app if that’s available. All you have to do is uninstall WhatsApp and download it again from Google Play Store.

China-based Huawei outsold Apple’s iPhones in the first quarter of this year, seizing the California company’s second-place spot in a tightening smartphone market dominated by Samsung, a tracker said. A total of 310.8 million smartphones were shipped globally during the first three months of this year in a 6.6 percent decline from the same period in 2018, according to preliminary data from the Chinese-owned International Data Corporation.

It was the sixth consecutive quarter of decline for global smartphone shipments, the market tracker added. IDC saw the results as a sign that 2019 will be another down year overall for smartphone shipments, apart from strong growth by Huawei.

“It is becoming increasingly clear that Huawei is laser-focused on growing its stature in the world of mobile devices, with smartphones being its lead horse,” said IDC mobile device program director Ryan Reith.

“The overall smartphone market continues to be challenged in almost all areas, yet Huawei was able to grow shipments by 50 percent.” South Korean consumer electronics behemoth Samsung saw smartphone shipments drop 8.1 percent to 71.9 million in the first quarter.

Huawei, meanwhile, weighed in with 50.3 percent growth to ship 59.1 million smartphones and put it within “striking distance” of Samsung, according to IDC. Apple had a challenging first quarter, with iPhone shipments dropping by a “staggering” 30.2 percent from a year earlier to 36.4 million units, IDC reported.

Price cuts in China along with favorable trade-in deals were not enough to coax people into upgrading to new iPhones, the market tracker said. Apple delivered stronger-than-expected financial results for the past quarter as gains in services helped offset slumping iPhone sales, sparking a rally in shares of the technology giant.

An overall slowdown in the high-end smartphone market has been seen as a symptom of people waiting longer to upgrade to new models and a lack of the kind of captivating innovation that inspires them to do just that.

“Consumers continue to hold on to their phones longer than before as newer higher priced models offer little incentive to shell out top dollar to upgrade,” said IDC research manager Anthony Scarsella.

“Moreover, the pending arrival of 5G handsets could have consumers waiting until both the networks and devices are ready for prime time in 2020.”

If OnePlus is to stick to tradition, the next-gen flagship from the Chinese giant is still months away from being official. The OnePlus 7 has been confirmed to sport a Snapdragon 855 processor, but it won’t pack wireless charging yet.

The phone has now been leaked in renders and it reveals the design of the OnePlus 7 from all angles. According to the leak, OnePlus 7 will adopt Vivo Nex style pop-up selfie camera design and a triple rear camera setup at the back.

OnLeaks and PriceBaba have shared the latest OnePlus 7 leak-based renders, and they suggest that the phone will sport an all-display front with no notch or top forehead. The OnePlus 7, instead, is seen to adopt a pop-up selfie camera setup, and the display has a slight chin at the bottom. At the back, the phone comes with a triple rear camera setup aligned vertically, and a flash sitting beneath it. The back panel is glossy and reflective, seemingly made of glass.

The OnePlus 7 volume buttons sit on the left edge, the power and the toggle switch sits on the right edge. The speaker grille, the USB Type-C port, and the microphone are seen sitting on the bottom edge of the phone. The SIM tray ejects from the top edge, and there’s no 3.5mm audio jack in sight.

The report states that the OnePlus 7 screen-to-body-ratio will be at 95 percent, and the display will measure at 6.5-inches. The dimensions are tipped to be at 162.6x76x8.8mm, and with the camera bump, the thickness goes up to 9.7mm.

“If anyone is receiving abusive/offensive/death threats/ vulgar whatsapp messages ,please send screen shots of the message along with the mobile numbers at ccaddn-dot@nic.In

“We will take it up with the telecom operators and police heads for necessary action,” DoT Controller Communications Ashish Joshi tweeted.

The move comes following many public figures, including journalists, complaining of receiving abusive and threatening messages.

The DoT, in an order on February 19, had said that licence conditions bar carriage of objectionable, obscene or unauthorised content in any form on the network.

The order directed all telecom service providers to take immediate action against their customers for sending such messages as it is also a violation of customer declaration in the customer application form.

Music streaming service Spotify has officially launched in India, in both free and paid tiers. Spotify Premium India subscription price is Rs. 119 per month and Rs. 1,189 per year. Spotify also offers top-up packs for those who don’t want to pay for a recurring subscription. These top packs start at as little as Rs. 13 for one day and can cost as much as Rs. 719 for six months. Spotify is offering a student discount in India as well and the price for students is Rs. 59 per month (monthly subscription) or Rs. 66 for a one-month top-up. Spotify’s family subscription is currently unavailable in India and Spotify told Gadgets 360 that it has nothing to announce in this regard at the moment.

Sweden-based Spotify is the music streaming service with the highest number of paying subscribers in the world. India is the 79th country that Spotify has launched in globally, and the 11th country to get the service in Asia. In India, Spotify says it is offering more than 40 million songs and 3 billion playlists. Spotify is known for music streaming but it also features podcasts.

The music streaming service is known for its algorithm-based music recommendations engine, which curates music to your taste. The service can be used on Web, Android and iOS, but it also has apps on various other platforms such as Xbox One, Windows 10, smart TVs, etc. Its apps for Amazon Echo and Google Home are not available in India at the moment, but Spotify says it is working on getting these to the country asap. The service is claimed to be available on over 500 products across 200 hardware brands globally.

For its India launch, Spotify has offered some localisations on its apps. Once you tap the Search button, you’ll see Bollywood, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telegu, among other categories. This will vary based on your preferences, but there is a clear attempt to help people discover Indian music. In India, users can also choose from playlists of songs from movies, actors, as well as new city-based playlists tracking what’s trending in cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai.

Maruti Suzuki India has adopted the globally acclaimed International Material Data System (IMDS) and will be quantifying the recoverable and recyclable materials in its vehicles. India’s largest carmaker has started the practice of controlling the use of Substance of Concern (SoC) for mass production vehicles. IMDS helps in collecting, maintaining and analyzing the data related to materials used for automobile manufacturing.

Commenting on the step, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India said, “Maruti Suzuki is always concerned about the environment. We are taking a pro-active step and voluntarily putting in place a global mechanism for controlling hazardous substances in our vehicles. With the implementation of globally accepted IMDS system, Maruti Suzuki will be ready to comply with ELV regulations when it is launched in India.” An ELV-compliant vehicle aims at limiting the use of SoC like lead, hexavalent chromium, mercury and cadmium in vehicles. It also promotes recycling and recovery of materials used to manufacture a vehicle.

The new Maruti Suzuki WagnorR is the first model to use IMDS technology which makes its body and components 95 percent recoverable and 85 percent recyclable. Maruti has also said that all its future models will adopt the IMDS technology and it is working with its vendor partners to establish an efficient SoC management system as well.
