We have been hearing this piece of news for quite some time now. WhatsApp is working on a new feature called “Dark Mode” or also mentioned in some places as the “Night Mode”. Basically, the new mode will darken the app interface instead of the white and UFO green colour scheme we have been looking at since the introduction of this app.
In a tweet by WAABetaInfo, there are a number of WhatsApp users who have been finding the Dark Mode in some sections of the app. However, WABetaInfo has stated that the beta version has a lot of bugs because of which the Night Mode is appearing randomly to beta testers. However, it is clear that WhatsApp is yet to bring the Dark Mode to the stable release as well.W
WhatsApp has a lot of bugs and it shows the Night Mode in many parts of the app.
We first heard about the appearance of a Dark Mode on the Facebook-owned social messaging app back in March 2018. Facebook Messenger already has the Dark Mode, and the company is working to bring the feature to the public version as well.
Now, in the next stable release of the update, WhatsApp is bringing the dark mode or also name as Night Mode. So people can now change their instant messaging platform look into black. The Night Mode will be more relaxing and hurt the eyes less in low light conditions. Furthermore, AMOLED smartphone users will be the happiest, we guess.
The Dark mode has been spotted multiple times in the WhatsApp beta update release, has been made compatible with calls and Status section. It has been enabled for Chats list too. The action buttons will also reportedly soon get the Night mode.
WhatsApp submitted their latest update bearing 2.19.139 version through the Google Play Beta Programme. The update hosted 155 redesigned emojis and Night mode. Once the testing is over, the layout will reportedly be made available to the end users in the next Google Play Stable and web update release.
The old emojis have gone through few cosmetic changes while the dark mode has been renamed to the Night mode in the recent update. Though the Night mode is still under development, the emojis are now available to use in the beta update.
How to download WhatsApp Beta
In order to be at the forefront of the possible updates that WhatsApp is planning to bring in, you can apply to be a tester in WhatsApp Beta Google Play program. Just log in to Google, and go to play.google.com/apps/testing.
Once on it, select WhatsApp and a new page will open. The information on the page will say, “You’ll receive an update to the WhatsApp Messenger app if you already have it installed on your device. If you don’t have the WhatsApp Messenger app installed, download it on Google Play.”
Once you receive the update notification, just download and install and you will be on the latest beta version of WhatsApp. You can leave the testing program at any time. You can switch to the public version of the app if that’s available. All you have to do is uninstall WhatsApp and download it again from Google Play Store.
