Deepika Padukone who is currently shooting for Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak, in an interview addressed LGBTQ community and said, someone else should not dictate who one wants to spend the rest of their life with.
Supreme Court of India last year decriminalized homosexuality and since the Bollywood has taken little stands to mold the audience into an acceptable one. We have seen releases like Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, starring Sonam Kapoor as a homosexual and soon we will also have Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming venture which will address the problems faced by homosexuals.
During an interview with Mumbai Mirror Deepika said, “It feels strange to me that we even have to ask that question and the fact that we need to address it. We should not even allow ourselves to even be in this place where somebody else dictates how and with whom you want to spend the rest of your lives.”
Deepika after Padmaavat stepped away from the films as she got married to Ranveer Singh in November last year, and has finally returned to the sets with Vikrant Massey for a social drama based on the life of acid-attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.
Chhapaak is scheduled to hit the screens on January 10, 2020.
