We have been hearing this piece of news for quite some time now. WhatsApp is working on a new feature called “Dark Mode” or also mentioned in some places as the “Night Mode”. Basically, the new mode will darken the app interface instead of the white and UFO green colour scheme we have been looking at since the introduction of this app.

In a tweet by WAABetaInfo, there are a number of WhatsApp users who have been finding the Dark Mode in some sections of the app. However, WABetaInfo has stated that the beta version has a lot of bugs because of which the Night Mode is appearing randomly to beta testers. However, it is clear that WhatsApp is yet to bring the Dark Mode to the stable release as well.W

WhatsApp has a lot of bugs and it shows the Night Mode in many parts of the app.

We first heard about the appearance of a Dark Mode on the Facebook-owned social messaging app back in March 2018. Facebook Messenger already has the Dark Mode, and the company is working to bring the feature to the public version as well.

Now, in the next stable release of the update, WhatsApp is bringing the dark mode or also name as Night Mode. So people can now change their instant messaging platform look into black. The Night Mode will be more relaxing and hurt the eyes less in low light conditions. Furthermore, AMOLED smartphone users will be the happiest, we guess.

The Dark mode has been spotted multiple times in the WhatsApp beta update release, has been made compatible with calls and Status section. It has been enabled for Chats list too. The action buttons will also reportedly soon get the Night mode.

WhatsApp submitted their latest update bearing 2.19.139 version through the Google Play Beta Programme. The update hosted 155 redesigned emojis and Night mode. Once the testing is over, the layout will reportedly be made available to the end users in the next Google Play Stable and web update release.

The old emojis have gone through few cosmetic changes while the dark mode has been renamed to the Night mode in the recent update. Though the Night mode is still under development, the emojis are now available to use in the beta update.

How to download WhatsApp Beta

In order to be at the forefront of the possible updates that WhatsApp is planning to bring in, you can apply to be a tester in WhatsApp Beta Google Play program. Just log in to Google, and go to play.google.com/apps/testing.

Once on it, select WhatsApp and a new page will open. The information on the page will say, “You’ll receive an update to the WhatsApp Messenger app if you already have it installed on your device. If you don’t have the WhatsApp Messenger app installed, download it on Google Play.”

Once you receive the update notification, just download and install and you will be on the latest beta version of WhatsApp. You can leave the testing program at any time. You can switch to the public version of the app if that’s available. All you have to do is uninstall WhatsApp and download it again from Google Play Store.

Nowadays, communicating with family, friends, and others is really important. Earlier one call a day which would cost more than 2-3rs. for a minute use to satisfy people but, today chatting all day with your contacts isn’t enough because of which people even ignore sleeping at nights.

This is because today face to face communication is also not possible. Parents can’t communicate with their children if they are in another city for studies and they get busy with their cell phones and friends which makes parents worried and hence communication gap doesn’t get filled. same is communicating with any of our relative or friend who lives far away from us and is not physically present in front of us communication isn’t proper.

For all these communication problems today one has a great solution android phone and applications in it. Though communication earlier was equally important but today it is more because everyone gets busy with their lifestyle and work out of which they can’t take out time for family friends for which different application have been launched which help us not only in work but filling communication gap.

The earliest methods of communicating across
great distances used written correspondence delivered by hand from one person
to another. In other words, letters. The earliest form of postal service dates
back to 550 B.C. Then, In 1792, the telegraph was invented. This allowed
messages to be delivered over a long distance far faster than a horse and rider
could carry them. Although telegraph messages were short, they were a
revolutionary way to convey news and information.

After a wait of over 90 years telephone came into
existence in 1890 and Radio in 1891. Both of these are still in running.

After the end of the 19th century in 20th-century technology began to change at a faster level and the first recognizable social media site, Six Degrees, was created in 1997. It enabled users to upload a profile and make friends with other users. In 1999, the first blogging sites became popular, creating a social media sensation that’s still popular today. But as usual they were not enough for entertainment because people could not communicate via these site for which Applications came into existence and in 2006 Facebook spread in all over the world people went crazy to create their accounts and the communication gap between people got filled. From its days of inception, Facebook has come a long way to make people’s life much more interesting and exciting. With Facebook being your virtual social pal, one can upload photos, share your views and humorous stories, comment and chat with your friends, family or any other person one wants to and hence Facebook is one of most favorite Application of people around the world to use.

Then came WhatsApp in 2009, it has earned a huge success worldwide and it still manages to exist as an independent instant chat and message sharing mobile app. WhatsApp has unbelievably captured the interests of millions of people especially because it directly communicates 2 or more people in an easy way without the distraction of posts that are to be seen like Facebook has and yet whats app today is a favorite family group chat App !!

Above 2 were more about communication but then this App entered and it has changed the lifestyle and so much in life teens and adults too. After Facebook, if there is any other social networking app that made a sensation, it is Instagram. Instagram was thought to have unique leverage due to its ability to allow users to share photos and videos. Users relished the idea of capturing and sharing on the app the best and most important moments of their life and allows a person to show people everything live and gives the amazing feature of chat with message unsend option which was added in whats app also last year.

A security flaw in WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, allowed sophisticated attackers to install spyware on phones, the company said, in the latest trouble for its parent Facebook.

The vulnerability — first reported by the Financial Times, and fixed in the latest WhatsApp update — allowed hackers to insert malicious software on phones by calling the target using the app, which is used by 1.5 billion people around the world.

The FT cited a spyware dealer as saying the tool was developed by a shadowy Israel-based firm called the NSO Group, which has been accused of helping governments from the Middle East to Mexico snoop on activists and journalists. Security researchers said the malicious code bore similarities to other tech developed by the firm.

The latest exploit — which impacts Android devices and Apple’s iPhones, among others — was discovered earlier this month and WhatsApp scrambled to fix it, rolling out an update in less than 10 days. “WhatsApp encourages people to upgrade to the latest version of our app, as well as keep their mobile operating system up to date, to protect against potential targeted exploits designed to compromise information stored on mobile devices,” a spokesperson said.

The firm did not comment on the number of users affected or who targeted them, and said it had reported the matter to US authorities. The breach is the latest in a series of issues troubling WhatsApp’s parent Facebook, which has faced intense criticism for allowing its users’ data to be harvested by research companies and over its slow response to Russia using the platform as a means to spread disinformation during the 2016 US election campaign.

The WhatsApp spyware is sophisticated and “would be available to only advanced and highly motivated actors”, the company said, adding that a “select number of users were targeted”. “This attack has all the hallmarks of a private company that works with a number of governments around the world” according to initial investigations, it added, but did not name the firm.

WhatsApp has briefed human rights organizations on the matter, but did not identify them. The Citizen Lab, a research group at the University of Toronto, said in a tweet it believed an attacker tried to target a human rights lawyer as recently as Sunday using this flaw, but was blocked by WhatsApp.

The NSO Group came to prominence in 2016 when researchers accused it of helping spy on an activist in the United Arab Emirates. Its best-known product is Pegasus, a highly invasive tool that can reportedly switch on a target’s phone camera and microphone, and access data on it.

The firm said that it only licenses its software to governments for “fighting crime and terror”. The NSO Group “does not operate the system, and after a rigorous licensing and vetting process, intelligence and law enforcement determine how to use the technology to support their public safety missions”, it said in a statement to AFP. “We investigate any credible allegations of misuse and if necessary, we take action, including shutting down the system.”

WhatsApp is testing a new feature where users will be able to control who adds them to a Group chat. The feature is being tested on the iOS version of WhatsApp. The messaging app had recently started a public beta program for its iOS app, and those users who have registered will be able to test out upcoming features. The feature for controlling Group invitations will likely be added to both Android and iOS.

The feature will be available for everyone for any iOS beta user that joined the Test Flight beta program in the next iOS updates, in the future. Currently the feature is in testing phase.

The Group Invitation feature will ensure that no one can randomly add you to a group without your permission, and will be better for privacy. The new feature is available under WhatsApp Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups.

A user will have the option of limiting their privacy settings for Group invitation to three options: Everyone, My Contacts and Nobody. The first one on the list, which is Everyone would allow anyone on the messaging platform to add a user to groups, even if their number is not saved in the contacts.

The My Contacts option will limit Group invites to just contacts in the list of the user. Nobody will ensure that no one can add the user to a group. The user will get a request every time someone wants to add them to a group.

It also appears that when the admin of a group cannot add the user to a Group chat, a new chat will be created where the user will be able to choose if they want to join the group, with two buttons of Accept or Decline.
