Liquor contractor shot dead in Gurugram, two hurt

TC Bureau Gurugram: A 38-year-old liquor contractor was shot dead, allegedly by three bike borne assailants at Jatoli Mandi village in Pataudi, the police said.

The deceased has been identified as Inderjeet, a resident of Jatoli Mandi village.

Two of the victim’s friends, Vikram and Vishal, were injured in the incident which took place on Wednesday night. While Vikram sustained bullet injuries, Vishal received minor injuries in the attack.

In his police complaint, the deceased’s brother, Jaibhagwan, said that Inderjeet along with his two friends were coming to their house after collecting cash from his liquor shop in his white Maruti Swift car on Wednesday night.

“When they reached Jatoli Mode in the village, around 11-12 assailants, who came on three motorcycles, chased Inderjeet’s car and fired nearly 20-25 rounds targeting the victims,” Jaibhagwan said in his complaint.

Soon after the incident, the victims were rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared Inderjeet dead. Vikram and Vishal have been referred to Gurugram for further treatment. The condition of Vikram is said to be critical, the police said.

“The liquor contractor’s brother has given the names of some of the suspects as Abhishek, Harender, Rohit, Sagar, Akhil, Krishan alias Gugan, all from Jatoli Mandi village. We are scanning the indent’s footage to identify the culprits,” said Karan Singh, SHO, Pataudi police station.

On the other hand, the victim’s family has levelled allegations against the police.

“I had told the police that Abhishek and his aides have criminal backgrounds. Last year, Abhishek and his gang members had threatened the victim and his family members. They had opened fire on Inderjeet as well. An FIR in this regard had been filed at the Pataudi police station but the police could not arrest him till now,” Jaibhagwan said.

After initial probe, the police said an old revelry could be the reason behind the incident in which a rival group targeted the liquor contractor.

“We are ascertaining the actual reason behind the incident. The body has been handed over to the family and hunt is on to arrest the culprits,” Singh said. <
