Gourav Sharma Chandigarh/Ludhiana: MP Ravneet Singh Bittu demanded an FIR against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for asking the Punjab Speaker to lock the state assembly. Ravneet Singh Bittu, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Sanjay Talwar, and Sham Sundar Arora were sent to judicial custody after arrest by Ludhiana police today on the FIR registered on 28th February. The next date of hearing will be on 19th March.
Ludhiana police produced them before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Tanish Goyal. Ravnit Bittu along with hundreds of congress workers of Ludhiana today assembled in front of the Commissioner of Police office in Ludhiana, where they were stopped by the police.
Minor scuffle also took place between the congress workers and the police deployed at the gate of the CP office. Later they were arrested on the FIR registered on 28th February. Addressing the media outside the Commissioner of Police office, S. Ravnit Bittu, said that if FIR can be registered against me and other senior leadership of the Ludhiana Congress for putting lock at the gate of Corporation office, then the same law is applicable on the Chief Minister of Punjab, S Bhagwant Mann who also asked the Speaker of the Punjab assembly to lock it.
“Even the Lock was brought in the Vidhan Sabha premises by the Chief Minister himself which is a complete violation of the constitution. The assembly is governed by some rules but the Chief Minister, who is the home minister of the state, has violated them. We only went to take the issues of the public at the corporation zone A office but false fabricated FIR on the statement of the watchman who was not even present there, was registered against me, Ashu ji, Sanjay ji, and many congress workers. Why the Punjab police is not registering the FIR against the Chief Minister,” he said.
Strongly advocating the cause of Public Grievances at the government offices, Bittu said that his spree to visit the Government. offices will continue and where ever any laxity in the work will be found we will again put the lock at that office. I have given time of two years to the present Govt but the officials are not working. Instead corruption is at its peak in the Govt offices and the people are being harassed.
Quoting a report by the Punjab Govt, Bittu said that Ludhiana has been positioned on 19 th rank for providing the Sewa Kendra services in all the 23 districts of Punjab. Today there are around 15000 applications which are pending in the 43 Sewa Kendras of the Ludhiana district. Astonishingly more than 870 are such which have exceeded their time limits. Any officer found responsible for this will have to face the music.
