Witnessing a global pandemic

Samir Parikh: Witnessing a global pandemic of this extent is something unprecedented, and therefore, leaves all of us with a sense of uncertainty and anxiety. This is likely to have an impact on each and every aspect of our lives globally, be it our personal health and safety, our work and profession, and even our interpersonal relationships. In fact, its absolutely inevitable to have such worries and thoughts about the future. Some important things to keep in mind at this point of time could include.

1. Ensuring some kind of structure in our routine as we stay cooped up at home.

2. Maintaining a balance, both between work life at home and home life itself.

3. Re-connecting with others, reach out, utilise this time to spend meaningful moments and quality interactions with your loved ones, be it within your proximity or far away from you.

4. Make sure to take out time for self care. Even if you cannot move away from home, try to find a time and space for your self, and do something for your own self care. Utilise this time to pick up a new hobby or skill. It will give an opportunity to channelize your energies productively. Do these activities with the participation of your partner or loved ones… it shall help improve your bonding in the long run, while also giving a sense of togetherness as well as satisfaction.

5. Lastly, be willing to reach out. Talk about your thoughts and feelings. Be open to conversations and communication. And yes, make an effort to be mindful of the present moment, instead of simply worrying about the future and the uncertainties that come with it. Focus on what you can do within your control, and utilise your energies to spread positivity, and motivate each other during such tough times.
